Welcome to Karpman Consulting. We are an energy consulting firm based in Glastonbury, CT specializing in building energy modeling, energy modeling training, and building energy efficiency policy. For the past 15 years, we have been committed to offering custom engineering and consulting solutions to a variety of clients from both the public and private sector.

We have experience with both new construction and existing building projects including a wide range of building types. Our projects have included a federal courthouse in Pennsylvania, the UN Headquarters in Copenhagen, a hotel in New York City, a high-school in Connecticut, a dormitory in Massachusetts, an office tower in Tokyo, and many others.

We have led the development of technical guidelines for multiple whole building incentive programs throughout the Northeast, including the NYSERDA New Construction Program, the New Jersey Pay for Performance Program, and the Energize CT Whole Building Performance path. We have participated in national working groups, such as the NYSERDA Building Labeling working group, and are proud to be involved in the development of energy policies at the national level.

In addition to our consulting services, we have delivered dozens of energy modeling training to over a thousand engineers, architects, and professionals. Our training offerings include an extensive curriculum of eQUEST energy modeling classes as well as introductory modeling training and energy code training. Visit our training page for more info.

January 28, 2018 - SUNY Albany Building 25, a gut-rehab project on the campus of the State University of New York in Albany has received a final LEED Platinum certification from GBCI. This is added to the other LEED Platinum buildings already completed by KC which are UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark and Wesleyan University Squash Court in Middletown, CT.

December 2017 - Karpman Consulting has been approved as an MRO (Multifamily High Rise Review Organization) for the ENERGY STAR Multifamily High Rise Program.


November 2017 - Karpman Consulting has been selected by Enterprise Green Communities as an approved Technical Assistance Provider in the following areas: Integrative Design Process/Design Review; Data Analysis/Portfolio Benchmarking; Energy Modeling; Audits; Inspections and Performance Testing; Comprehensive Green Capital Needs Assessment; and Training


October 27th, 2017 - Maria Karpman and Nick Allen-Sandoz delivered a presentation titled 'Designing for Net Zero Using Energy Modeling' at the 'Path to Net Zero for Commercial Buildings Conference' hosted by ENERGIZE Connecticut in Berlin, CT.

September 29th 2017 - Maria Karpman delivered two presentations at the annual ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference 2017 in Atlanta, GA. Slides for both presentations can be found on the RESOURCES page.

Fall 2017 - Karpman Consulting is working diligently on developing the new Simulation Guidelines for the EPA EnergyStar Multifamily High Rise Program in its most recent iteration to follow ASHRAE 90.1 2016.

Summer 2017 - Maria Karpman was invited to participate on the Stakeholder Advisory Group, and Multifamily, Commercial, and Modeling Working Groups to provide input on the new version of the New York Stretch Code (NYStretch)

June 2, 2017 - Final construction review documents have been submitted for SUNY Building 25, a major rehabilitation project in Albany, NY, clearing the way for achieving 80 points and an anticipated LEED Platinum!
