Maria Karpman LEED AP, BEMP, CEM
Maria has 20 years of experience in building science, energy modeling, and software design. She has completed numerous energy modeling projects for new and existing buildings and has led the development of technical polices for major modeling-based incentive programs as well as national programs such as the EPA Energy Star Multifamily High Rise Program. She has authored papers and presented at the ASHRAE, IBPSA, and AIA conferences among others, and is a member of the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 committee. She has developed and delivered trainings on energy modeling and code compliance that have been attended by over a thousand building industry professionals. Ms. Karpman holds advanced degrees in engineering and computer science, has served as an NYU adjunct faculty member, and is the principal of Karpman Consulting.
Christina LaPerle PE, BEMP, CEM, CBCP
Christina LaPerle is a licensed Professional Engineer, ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), an AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and an AEE Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP). She has over 10 years experience in energy engineering performing energy audits, energy modeling, and retro-commissioning for both existing buildings and new construction. Christina has developed energy modeling tools to enhance workflow efficiency and regularly performs energy modeling technical reviews for incentive and above code program submissions. She also contributes to the development of incentive and above code program simulation guidelines and tools. Christina is the current club President of Henry Hudson Toastmasters. Toastmasters was established in 1924 and is an organization that focuses on developing oratory, presentation, and general leadership and communication skills. She focuses her efforts on mentoring new members and helping club members achieve their personal and professional goals. She brings this same enthusiasm to the Karpman Consulting classroom.
