Maria Karpman LEED AP, BEMP, CEM
Maria has 20 years of experience in building science, energy modeling, and software design. She has completed numerous energy modeling projects for new and existing buildings and has led the development of technical polices for major modeling-based incentive programs as well as national programs such as the EPA Energy Star Multifamily High Rise Program. She has authored papers and presented at the ASHRAE, IBPSA, and AIA conferences among others, and is a member of the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 committee. She has developed and delivered trainings on energy modeling and code compliance that have been attended by over a thousand building industry professionals. Ms. Karpman holds advanced degrees in engineering and computer science, has served as an NYU adjunct faculty member, and is the principal of Karpman Consulting.
Nicholas Allen-Sandoz PE, BEMP
Nick Allen-Sandoz is a licensed Professional Engineer and an ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP). He has over 10 years experience in energy engineering for high performance buildings and sustainability primarily dedicated towards energy simulation. Nick has deep understanding of energy modeling in a variety of applications which allows him to communicate and distinguish results in terms of design, accounting and actual operation perspectives. He provides energy modeling training and technical support to clients across the US. He regularly performs energy modeling technical reviews for incentive program submissions and contributes to the development of simulation guidelines. Nick is a strong advocate of using energy modeling for early design applications. Nick is passionate for energy education both professionally and personally by volunteering his time presenting to students and local organizations. Nick is also an ocean enthusiast and avid surfer. He finds his favorite rides during a Nor’easter winter storm.
